RELX is committed to creating the best products and experiences that set the bar higher. In order to achieve our goal to provide current smokers who cannot or do not want to quit with a better alternative, we maintain rigorous testing and quality standards that follow all laws and standards for e-cigarette products. Our R&D experts at our Lab, R&D facility and factory work continuously to ensure we only produce the highest quality e-liquids and e-cigarette devices.
E-Liquid Development Standards and Testing
The RELX Lab develops and tests all of RELX’s e-liquids. The lab is designed to meet the standards of CNAS (China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment), the national accreditation body of China. The Accreditation criteria and specifications established by CNAS are based on the international standard ISO/IEC 17025. RELX performs chemical testing on every item used and rigorously tests every batch of e-liquid produced. RELX’s e-liquid testing framework includes 54 different indexes across 17 different categories to test for harmful and potentially harmful constituents. Our standards include physical and chemical stability requirements, impurity and pollutant limit requirements, and stringent requirements for the amounts of glycerin, propylene glycol, water and raw materials used.
Vapor tests at the RELX Lab are conducted according to the internationally recognized AFNOR-XP D90-300 standard. AFNOR-XP is currently the most comprehensive vapor testing standard for e-cigarette products in the world, covering the requirements of e-cigarette equipment, e-liquid and vapor. Our AFNOR-XP standard tests include testing for multiple carbonyl compounds, 15 heavy metals, volatile organic compounds (VOC), tobacco-specific nitrosamines (TSNAs), Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and other ingredients, as well as the transmission stability of nicotine in our e-cigarette vapor. All of our AFNOR-standard tests have provided results that meet the vapor and emission standards and requirements issued by the European Union for e-cigarette products. Furthermore, RELX goes one step further and has developed its own independent standards for the level of substances in the vapor of our products that are stricter than AFNOR standards.
RELX e-liquids do not contain THC or vitamin E acetate, which have been determined by the United States Center for Disease Control as a likely culprit in triggering vaping-related illnesses in the United States.
Rigorous Manufacturing Standards and Testing
RELX has one of the most stringent product inspection processes in the entire industry. The RELX factory is one of the largest exclusive e-cigarette factories in the world for an independent e-cigarette company; it has received numerous international quality certifications including ISO 9001 and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) after third party audits. In addition, all RELX production partners are required to establish manufacturing systems according to ISO 9001, ISO 22000 and GMP standards.
By ensuring a close relationship between our design, R&D and production teams, we have guaranteed that all stages — such as quality control, material sourcing, production, and final assembly — are as effective as possible. RELX’s production process incorporates 58 inspection procedures before RELX even begins manufacturing a product. During the manufacture of our products, all devices are subject to 18 rigorous quality control steps, including third party material inspections, ageing tests, IPQC, FQC, and OQC inspections.
Battery reliability has been a great concern for the e-cigarette industry and RELX’s battery requirements and circuitry are designed to ensure no reliability issues occur. RELX batteries are developed in accordance with the UN38.3 and IEC 62133 standards. In addition, RELX tests all batteries for reliability and consistency during the design process, before assembly of our products and after the assembly of our products. Our battery and device tests include: high pressure tests, drop tests, high temperature and humidity tests, thermal shock tests, and over discharge tests.
Lastly, RELX’s high quality standards has led the company to responsibly discard 2 million e-liquid pods per year – a number that exceeds the total number of e-liquid pods sold by many e-cigarette brands.
Our R&D and quality control teams have developed a comprehensive process that ensures the reliability of our e-liquids, devices and pods. RELX is committed to continuously ensuring that only the highest quality products reach our users’ hands and will continue to evaluate and optimize our processes and standards.
